Women Lifting Women for Lent

Lent begins in 10 days. Are you still wondering what you will give up or what discipline you will take on?

This year, I’m inviting women to give up criticizing other women. You may be thinking, “I’m not critical!” but women criticizing and critiquing other women has become such a part of our cultural landscape, that sometimes, we don’t even realize that we’re doing it. (She really shouldn’t be wearing that. That haircut is not flattering. What was she thinking when she left the house this morning?)

For Lent, let’s be intentional about how we talk about and treat our fellow sisters. Take the pledge to stop criticizing and start encouraging. Not only will you bless others, you will experience your own transformation as you work for good and not evil. Take the pledge today. You can even start practicing now!

Women Lifting Women for Lent Pledge

For Lent, I will refrain from making negative comments about any woman’s weight. I will offer no commentary on any woman’s fashion choices (i.e. she’s to old/young/skinny/fat to wear that). The words “she’s really let herself go” or “she should really pull herself together” will not come out of my mouth. I will not criticize parenting choices that are different from my own. I will not ask a stay-at-home mom what she does all day, nor will I ask a mom who works outside the home how she does it. I will make no comment on the number of children any woman does or does not have, nor will I make any inquiry as to when any woman might produce offspring. When any woman is celebrating an achievement, milestone or success, I will celebrate with her and not belittle her accomplishment or try to bring her down in any way.

I will seek every opportunity to lift up other women in my world. I will offer support, encouragement and help in the form of words and actions whenever possible.

Yes! I will pledge to stop criticizing and start lifting other women this Lent!

(We will not share your information with any third party, but we will email you encouraging words throughout the Lenten season.)

So encourage each other and help each other grow stronger in faith, just as you are already doing. –1 Thessalonians 5:11
