Bonds of peace, love and grace
Tonight as Christians across the country gather to celebrate the institution of the Lord’s Supper, it is more important than ever that we gather around the table where all are invited and all are welcome. As our country grows more and more fractured, and we have completely failed the exhortation of Bill and Ted to be excellent to one another, we desperately need the Lord’s Table.
In a world where teen survivors of school shootings are targets for pundits and politicians
In a country of our armed forces who have served valiantly are asked to step down because o their gender identity
In a place where the idea of what it means to be a Christian has become a polarizing force
We need the table of Jesus Christ
We need to accept the invitation
We need a place where we all get a seat. Where we all belong.
Tonight at my faith community, we’ll be singing “Behold the Lamb.” It reminds us that as we share in the bread and the wine, we are doing so as sign of our bonds of peace, our bonds of love and our bonds of grace.
May we be dedicated to forging those bonds this Holy Week and beyond.
