Feel Good Friday #54
Every week Doubting Believer brings you things to read, watch or listen to that are sure to make you smile. Because we all could use a little good news.
Note: Feel Good Friday is not about hiding our heads in the sand or ignoring the world’s bad news. We don’t have to go looking for that news. We are bombarded with it and many are living it. But we also can’t let ourselves forget that good things are happening, good people are doing amazing things and hope is happening all around us. So allow yourself to celebrate the good, laugh at the funny and smile at signs of progress.
In my year of practicing the spiritual discipline of searching for good news, there is never any shortage of humans who go to great lengths to protect, care for and love our furry, four-legged friends. But this guy wins the prize for most entertaining pet hero I’ve come across thus far.
Let’s hear it for the great state of Maine! Kudos to their legislators who realize that people who are moving from welfare to work need support support in order to be successful in that transition. In our politically divided world, their legislature voted unanimously to pass two bills that will help families make the transition from public assistance to being self-sufficient. Learn more about the Invest in Tomorrow bills and be encouraged for our future.
I do love a good story about the power of food and gathering at the table to bring a community together. Read about what it’s done for a neighborhood in Hoboken.
Get some rest, do something fun, connect with people in real life and spend some time with God this weekend. Make renewal a priority so that you are able to be the person God calls you to be. Take care of yourself. The world needs you.
