Feel Good Friday #60

Every week Doubting Believer brings you things to read, watch or listen to that are sure to make you smile. Because we all could use a little good news.

Check out what One Heart Worldwide is doing in Nepal to help save the lives of pregnant women and their children. It is a great reminder that we can all do things that make the world better–even in the face of insurmountable obstacles.

It’s almost impossible to be on the lookout for Good News in the world and not find a pet story that makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Hollywood has decided (like many pet-loving people out there) that when it comes time to find a dog, one should head to the animal shelter. The upcoming remake of Lady and the Tramp will feature rescue dog Monte in the title role of Tramp.

Sister Helen Prejean (whose book Dead Man Walking was turned into an Oscar-winning film) has a new memoir out called River of Fire. Sister Prejean has been a tireless advocate for justice–not only for those on death row, but for women in her own faith tradition. It is sure to inspire and ignite those of us who may be weary in battles for justice in our own backyards.

I was a Sesame Street kid (they turn fifty just slightly before I do) and I can still sing the Rubber Ducky song by heart, so this article about the Sounds of Sesame Street made me smile (and hum along).

John Christ is back with the best preseason preview of the year.

Get some rest, do something fun, connect with people in real life and spend some time with God this weekend. Make renewal a priority so that you are able to be the person God calls you to be. Take care of yourself. The world needs you.
