Every week Doubting Believer brings you things to read, watch or listen to that are sure to make you smile. Because we all could use a little good news.

If you grew up reading the Encyclopedia Brown books (or for the younger generation Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer), this story will definitely warm your heart. Some modern-day kid detectives put their skills to use and found a missing woman who suffers from dementia. Kids today…are doing really awesome things.


Good news for our oceans! An effort that began six years ago is finally paying off and removing plastics from our oceans. This doesn’t give us permission to keep using single use plastics, but it’s a good start on helping the earth heal from the damage we have already inflicted.


A bar once famous for the dollar bills customers stapled to the walls has painstakingly removed all the bills to help victims of Hurricane Dorian. Let us revel in this (possibly) one time that a story that begins with “Florida bar” ends in something so inspiring and helpful to humankind.


I love what they’re doing with McDonald’s billboards in Sweden. There’s always room for bees!
