Feel Good Friday #71
Every week Doubting Believer brings you things to read, watch or listen to that are sure to make you smile. Because we all could use a little good news.
The opioid problem in this country is seemingly insurmountable. Was happy to see that Erika Hurt (the woman who OD’d and passed out in her car with her infant son in the car, the photo of which went viral). Today Erika is three years sober, and she and her son celebrated with a photo shoot of their own making.
When my daughter was on a competitive dance team in high school, my husband became the lone weekend dance dad, since I had to preach on Sundays. He was a great cheerleader and knew those dance routines backwards and forwards. So I love this story about another dad who is all in with his support of his daughter.
For a country that loves to claim how much we “support the troops,” we can really treat our veterans poorly. A new Minnesota Rotary Club has been founded by veterans for the purpose of helping other veterans. They hope to be a model that will spread.
A big shout-out and celebration to Southminster Presbyterian Church, their fabulous leader Rev. Marci Glass and the Boise Presbytery for raising money to help settle medical debt for the people of Idaho. Way to be the church!
Get some rest, do something fun, connect with people in real life and spend some time with God this weekend. Make renewal a priority so that you are able to be the person God calls you to be. Take care of yourself. The world needs you.
