Five Movies We Need Right Now

If you grow weary of election results and Corona virus updates, here are five movies (some you may not have heard of) that boost my spirits every time.

Based on a true story of when the LGBTQ community teamed up with striking miners in the UK, this movie will make you feel better about life and the world. I love it every time.

Available on Amazon Prime and Hulu

It’s Lent, so Chocolat should be required watching for us all.

Available on Netflix and Amazon Prime

The Hollars stars four of my favs: Anna Kendrick, John Krasinski (who also directed), Richard Jenkins and the late (and fabulous) Margo Martindale.

Available on Netflix

Not to be confused with the 2005 Will Farrell kids soccer movie of the same name, the Noah Baumbach 1995 Kicking and Screaming is a kinder, gentler Reality Bites.

Available on Netflix

Fighting with My Family is another film (loosely) based on a true story of a young girl who hails from a wrestling family in small-town England has the chance to make it in the big time. There’s certainly plenty of wrestling, but it’s more about families.

Available on Hulu

Pay attention. Engage in making the world better, but be sure to take breaks, have fun and laugh a little.
