The little Arkansas town where my mom grew up has just elected their first African-American, female mayor. I found out that another little Arkansas town where my dad grew up also has an African-American, female mayor. A little more research has turned up several African-American, female mayors in small and not-so-small towns throughout my home state. Further research yielded the knowledge that we are experiencing a record number of black women mayors leading towns throughout the country. This is good news, indeed.
