Feel Good Friday #108
Every week Doubting Believer brings you things to read, watch or listen to that are sure to make you smile. Because we all could use a little good news.
This young medical student realized that certain conditions presenting themselves differently on dark skin. When he couldn’t find any language or information about diagnosing these conditions on darker skin, he decided to write a book about it.
If you like your authors even younger, a four-year-old poet in the UK just landed a book deal. From the heartfelt (You take off your brave feeling / Because there’s nothing / to be scared of in the house) to the practical (Don’t put your finger up your nose on live telly), little Nadim Shamma-Sourgen has something to say to us all.
Foo Fighter and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl (whose mother was a teacher) penned a beautiful essay in The Atlantic in support of teachers this week. You’ll want to check it out.
This was my good news this week, and I hope some of you will find it enjoyable as well.
I came late to this party, having only discovered this week that since back in March, one of my favorite comedians, Kathleen Madigan, has been doing a nightly reading of Tanya Tucker’s book Nickel Dreams. She does about 10 minutes a night, reading and providing a bit of her own commentary. She also shares with the audience what her beverage of choice that night is–just in case your usual selection is getting old. Here’s the first episode. It’s still going (think she’s on about episode 72), so if you enjoy this, there’s more to come!
Get some rest.
Do something fun.
Talk to God.
Connect with people you love.
Take good care of yourself. The world need you.
