Naming our grief and remembering those who have left us play an important role in our efforts to be whole and healing human beings. Praying with and for those who are grieving is part of what it means to be children of God dwelling in community (whatever form that community may take).

Today we join together in remembering those we have lost and praying for others who have lost loved ones as well.

Gracious God, we give you thanks for the saints that showed us how to live and who went before us in death. We are comforted in our firm conviction that in life and in death we belong to You. We know that in our comings and goings, in our celebrations and our laments, in our good days and our bad, we are never alone. Help us to live out our days as bearers of the light of Christ, who is our hope and our salvation. Amen.
