Did You Wake Up Expecting An Encounter with God?

Was that your first thought this morning?

“I’m gonna encounter the living Lord Jesus Christ.”

Probably not. And yet, we spend an awful lot of our time looking for Jesus.

We spend a lot of time looking for Jesus, but it’s often in very holy, very specific spaces and places. We don’t go out into everyday life expecting to see Jesus…and I think that’s why we so often miss him.

I had a bit of fun with the story of the disciples traveling the road to Emmaus with Jesus, but not realizing it was Jesus. (Luke 24:13-35).

The first question we want to ask when we hear this story is “how could they not have known it was Jesus?” But how can we ask that question? We miss him all the time.

Wake up tomorrow expecting an encounter with Jesus and see if you don’t find him.
