Wanna Be More Christlike?

May the God of endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude toward each other, similar to Christ Jesus’ attitude.

Romans 15:5 [Common English Bible]

One of the things I fail miserably every day is the attempt to be more Christ-like. Where Jesus was kind and patient and gentle, I tend to be cranky, impatient and snarky.

However, I do like to encourage people. I want people to feel empowered and do well and do good.  It amazes me and hurts my heart that so many people don’t recognize and claim their God-given gifts and talents. How can people not see that they are capable and brave and wonderful and wise?  I want everyone to see themselves as powerful and gifted and worth-full.

And in my own desire for others to thrive, I am reminded of God’s desire for me. God wants even my cranky, snarky self to do well and to do good. God sees in me the things that I forget or dismiss or simply cannot see.

What a wonderful world it would be if we all wanted for one another what God wants for each of us.

Today, let us all pray that the God of endurance and encouragement will give us such an attitude toward each other, so that we might become a little more Christ-like and the world might become a better place to be.
