Uta and Hifumi Abe became the first brother and sister to win Olympic Gold on the same day. The Japanese siblings both too the win in Judo–in their home country and the sport’s home country. Judo was invented in Japan.
As someone who is known for having people play games where everyone wins (aka non-competitive play), you know I loved this story.
A lot of challenges for this Olympics, but perhaps the hardest on the athletes is not having friends and family there to cheer them on. Some of the best moments have been the videos of those cheering squads when their Olympian takes the win.
