A Labor Day Prayer

Creator of all things,

We pray for those who are overworked and overwrought.

For those who feel like there are not enough hours in the day and for those who fill their hours with that which does not feel like enough.

For those who have lost work, those who fear going to work and those who are desperately seeking work.

For those who work in spaces and places where their own health and safety are jeopardized.

For those for whom home and work have morphed into one giant glob of chaos, confusion and conflicting schedules.

For those who feel they have no control over the number of hours they work and for those who choose to work more than they should.

Loving and Ever-Present God,

Direct the wayward.

Energize the weary.

Lift up the worn down.

Protect the vulnerable.

Remind us that we cannot bear fruit on our own and help us to find Sabbath rest.

Amen
