When the Fires Rage and the Flood Waters Rise

Refuge and ever-present help in times of trouble

The earth is being swallowed by the sea and consumed by fire

We are being swept away by rising waters.

We are walking through fire and getting burned

Breath of life, we cannot breathe.

Where are You?

We are weary and worn out

Wrap us in Your wings

Take us in Your shelter

Lift us high upon the rock

We’ve seen what You can do, God

Do it again!

You are our hope and our help

Give us strength and courage to survive the chaos

Grant us glimpses of your grace as we rescue and rebuild

Inspire in us a vision of a future we can welcome and infuse us with the determination to make it happen

Ever-present help in times of trouble, we find our rest in you

Amen.
